[2011-11-22 19:37:38] <AangPlushie> Aang could not believe it. After almost ten months together, him and Katara were done. He was leaving the South Pole after a heated argument between them resulted in their break-up. He did not know where to go now, all he knew was that he needed to be far away from her.
[2011-11-22 19:40:29] <KataraPlushie> Katara lay on top of her bed, staring hard at the ceiling, still in pure shock. Her emotions were a wreck and she felt numb. It all happened so fast; she had made a mistake, a huge one, and now she was paying the price.
[2011-11-22 19:43:19] <AangPlushie> Aang flew north towards no location inparticular, thinking where it all went wrong. She decided that she wanted meat, which he didn't like. The next thing he knew, they were in a heated argument, and it ended with them saying that it was over. His love for her was suddenly faded as he flew away.
[2011-11-22 19:47:13] <KataraPlushie> Katara rolled over on her side, her body growing tense. Why did she do what she did? Back when they first began dating, she vowed that she wouldn't eat meat, to respect Aang's cultural traditions. But she soon found herself unable to resist temptation; she wasn't exactly used to a vegetarian diet.(cont'd)
[2011-11-22 19:49:41] <KataraPlushie> She had told Aang that she was a bit tired of refraining from meat and that's when the anger erupted. Furious comments were thrown back and forth between the two until it was too much and they called it off.
[2011-11-22 19:56:28] <AangPlushie> Aang quietly flew through the night sky, his thoughts going like a tornado. He didn't know if he had done the right thing; while the conflict was raging out of hand, deep down, he could still feel some love for her. As the internal conflict for him started, he knew he needed time to rest.
[2011-11-22 20:01:34] <KataraPlushie> Katara spent most of the day in the confines of her own home. Sokka had stopped outside her door earlier, asking if she wanted to talk about what had happened, but she had rebuffed him. Although she was still somewhat angry, a few occassional tears escaped from her eyes, whatever were left from last night. She was lost right now and didn't know where to turn next.
[2011-11-22 20:05:55] <AangPlushie> Aang landed at the Southern Air Temple, all to himself. No one had been there besides himself, Katara and Sokka within the last 100 years. (cont'd)
[2011-11-22 20:09:01] <AangPlushie> It was the perfect place for him to go, all was quiet, and he could take his own time to gather his thoughts. He made his way to the main temple interior, taking time to bow to the Gyatso statue on the way. There, he laid down in his old room, on his own bed. The room had become worn down in the last century, but he didn't care. He needed time to himself.
[2011-11-23 15:27:50] <KataraPlushie> "What's wrong with you?" She remembered distinctly the way he had asked that when she told him of her reform. She wasn't sure whether or not he had meant to say something that harsh, just that it came out sharply. "What do you mean, 'what's wrong with me'?" she had asked, confused and hurt. "I just want a change, that's all."(cont'd)
[2011-11-23 15:30:05] <KataraPlushie> "You vowed that you would follow that Air Nomad tradition," he had turned on her. "You can't just decide that you're going to start eating meat again." From then on, she just grew frustrated. "Well, maybe I'm sick of just eating like a vegetarian!" she had spat out. And from then on, the conflict escalated.
[2011-11-23 15:34:27] <AangPlushie> Aang rolled around on his bed. It was the first day he was waking up in nearly a year, knowing that Katara was no longer his girlfriend. He finally got up and decided to roam the temple, his thoughts flowing quietly. He sighed, prepared to start the day, trying not to think about her. /I thought she was the one...but when it came down to it...she wasn't./ He looked downbeat, but still moved to take on the day anyway.
[2011-11-23 15:37:57] <KataraPlushie> Katara stepped outside her home the next morning after spending a restless night. The village seemed mostly empty. Maybe I'll be able to take a walk in silence, she thought only to hear Sokka greet her in a monotone voice.(cont'd)
[2011-11-23 15:39:20] <KataraPlushie> "Hey, Katara," he said, keeping his distance a bit as though he were afraid to go near her. "Hi, Sokka," she managed to say. After a moment, he approached her, saying, "Listen, I know it's hard for you. Want to talk about it?"(cont'd)
[2011-11-23 15:41:42] <KataraPlushie> That was the last thing she needed, was to be reminded of that. She let out an angry sigh and said darkly, "No." "C'mon, talking it out will help," he said. "I said no!" she snapped and walked away.
[2011-11-23 15:43:48] <AangPlushie> Aang was thinking about all that he said, all that he had done. /Maybe I was too harsh.../ He looked around as he gathered up some remaining plants to make food. He wasn't sure how to feel...angry that Katara defied the Air Nomad tradition, or upset with himself for leaving her. /Do I still love her...?/
[2011-11-23 15:48:05] <KataraPlushie> Katara stood on the outskirts of the village, pushing snow around randomly with her boots. She couldn't understand why Aang had gotten that upset at her wanting to eat meat again. All I wanted was a little break, she thought. I didn't mean to make him that upset...
[2011-11-23 15:50:18] <AangPlushie> Aang decided that what was done was done, unfortunately. He knew he couldn't go back to her now. /Does it even matter? She probably doesn't want to see me. I did what I did...and we can't change the past./ He knew he was too overbearing, but Katara said that it was clearly not working, and he angrily agreed, leaving not too long after that. Now, all he could was just focus on a new life.
[2011-11-23 15:56:10] <KataraPlushie> She sat sullenly in the snow, regretting her decision. But there was no turning back now and she couldn't spend the rest of her life moping around. "Guess it just wasn't meant to be," she told herself. She remembered the way he had snapped at her. "I deserve better than that."
[2011-11-23 15:58:58] <AangPlushie> At midday, Aang worked on his new plans. He decided he would stay at the Southern Air Temple for however long he needed to, hoping that no more than 10 days would be needed. After that, he would likely move to a more significant place, while continuing his travels every so often. What he did not plan though, was any stop at the Southern Water Tribe. /I can never go back./ After that, he gathered some lunch, still thinking about the fight somewhat.
[2011-11-23 16:03:03] <KataraPlushie> Katara spent some time outside the village, practicing her Waterbending to keep herself preoccupied. She did so half-heartedly, however, and after a while, her mind lingered back to the fight. She began unconsciously creating ice daggers and driving them into the ground before stopping and heading home.
[2011-11-23 16:05:36] <AangPlushie> Aang ate his lunch, albeit slowly and seemingly lacking appetite. Nevertheless, he put his small dish of vegetables down. He looked out the window and shed a couple of tears. He couldn't stop thinking about her. /I am so stupid!/ He yelled out in his mind, then running out and angrily throwing gusts of wind. He stopped himself, seeing he was ready to explode. He then relaxed and walked back inside, and started to meditate.
[2011-11-23 16:10:30] <KataraPlushie> On her way back home, a few villagers greeted her cheerfully. She was barely able to muster the energy to smile and reply in a friendly manner. Sokka had seen her and kept his distance. She saw some of the little kids playing around in the snow.(cont'd)
[2011-11-23 16:12:59] <KataraPlushie> They all loved tagging along with Aang, she found herself thinking. They were always so cheerful and kind around him. They didn't act like I did... Waves of guilt suddenly washed over her and she shut herself back in her igloo again.
[2011-11-23 16:16:41] <AangPlushie> The sun had set hours ago over the Southern Air Temple. "Good night Ka---oh, wait," he said sadly. "Well....I guess it's...good night Appa, good night Momo." His sky bison was in a stall just outside his room, and Momo was already laying on his bed. He crawled into bed, and just looked ahead at the wall. He tried to close his eyes, but it wasn't working. All he could do was toss and turn,...
[2011-11-23 16:16:41] <AangPlushie> ...still thinking about her. /Get her off your mind...it's over./ He tried to shut her out, but it was hard.
[2011-11-23 16:23:27] <KataraPlushie> Katara sat on her bed; night had already settled in and the house had grown dark and quiet. She wondered where Aang was now in the world, although she figured it was somewhere a million miles away from here. I guess I'll never be seeing him again, she thought and felt tears in her eyes. Time passed and she only grew more angry at herself.
[2011-11-23 16:26:13] <AangPlushie> The next three days passed, and Aang had gone through the same cycle over and over again. He started to realize that being isolated was not the way to go; he still felt the aching of his argument and split with Katara. /I should go talk to it with someone...maybe it's time to leave here and head elsewhere./ He packed up his supplies and left the Southern Air Temple, heading east towards the Earth Kingdom. He knew he had people he could talk to in the capital.
[2011-11-23 16:32:07] <KataraPlushie> She couldn't go on forever, keeping to herself, and she realized this when walking idly through the village one day. She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see Sokka. Great..., she thought. "Look, you've gone days without speaking to me," Sokka said, almost angrily. "You have to say something."
[2011-11-23 16:36:57] <AangPlushie> Aang continued his eastbound flight. He thought about her along the way, thinking of all their good times together, and how much he had meant to her. /She couldn't agree with my traditions...why do I still feel a connection to her?/
[2011-11-23 16:38:40] <KataraPlushie> "I don't have to say anything," she replied, fed up. "So you're just going to keep your mouth shut forever?" he demanded. "Do you even care that he left?" She whipped around sharply. "Of course I do!" she snapped. After a pause, she blurted, "I screwed up, okay?"
[2011-11-23 16:42:27] <AangPlushie> Aang's flight had grown long, and he was ready to relax. He set up camp in the east-central Earth Kingdom, near Ba Sing Se. /I know where I am.../ He saw a rock structure in the distance. /The Serpent's Pass.../ Aang remembered not too long after he lost Appa, he and the team journeyed across that terrain. He was in a depressed mood those days, until he realized what Katara had meant to him, thanks to witnessing the birth of a child. /I knew from that day on, I loved her.../ He looked at it, a tear running down his face.
[2011-11-23 16:50:22] <KataraPlushie> A few tears slid down her cheeks. "There. Happy?" she asked him, turning away, feeling exasperated. To her surprise, she suddenly felt her brother's arms around her in a hug. "I'm sorry," he said quietly. She wasn't sure what he was exactly apologizing for, but she didn't pull away.
[2011-11-23 16:52:15] <AangPlushie> Aang went to sleep that night, and he could really feel it. /I don't think there's any denying it now...is there? I think I...still love her. She has done so much for me...but...but.../ He fell down on his sleeping bag, looking up towards the moon, staring with a clearly distracted mind.
[2011-11-23 16:58:28] <KataraPlushie> She practiced Waterbending later that day, trying to keep busy. She performed the water whip repeatedly and was reminded of the day by the waterfall lagoon when she had yelled at Aang for mastering the technique before she did. I didn't mean to upset him there either, she thought sadly.
[2011-11-23 17:01:49] <AangPlushie> Aang was struggling through another night, however, he did fall asleep briefly. During his dream, he thought back to a good time. A past image showed him practicing Waterbending with her, in a vacation spot. The practice then turned into a play-fight, with the two splashing each other and laughing. It had ended with Katara tackling him, then hugging him tightly, and her whispering quietly, "That was fun..." He had said back, "Yes...it was.
[2011-11-23 17:02:09] <AangPlushie> "I'm glad we got this time...thanks, Aang. I love you."
[2011-11-23 17:02:50] <AangPlushie> As that dream finished, he caught himself saying "I love you too." He then got up, and looked around, her nowhere to be seen. He just sighed sadly and tried to sleep again.
[2011-11-24 10:42:22] <KataraPlushie> Katara found it hard once more to fall asleep that night. She wished she could just get over herself, over him, but the universe seemed to be denying this request. She scooped up some snow and threw it across the room and recalled the times they had had snowball fights. Those were the days...
[2011-11-24 10:44:46] <AangPlushie> Aang woke up early the next morning, the dream still fresh in his mind. He knew that getting over her was now nearly impossible, but he needed advice, someway, somehow. He gathered up his stuff and flew on Appa into Ba Sing Se. He knew of at least two people he could talk to; his friend, Buras, that he had met not long after the War, and the legendary Dragon of the West, who could provide great advice.
[2011-11-24 10:50:01] <KataraPlushie> She sat outside her house on a bright day, worn out from lack of sleep. She stared up at the sky intensely as Appa would simply fly into view with Aang riding atop him. "I wonder where he is now," she stated aloud. Not that I care, she tried to tell herself, but she remained unconvinced.
[2011-11-24 10:52:46] <AangPlushie> Aang landed in the capital. Conveniently enough, he recognized Buras as soon as he landed. "Aang, what's up man?" His friend asked him. "Hey, where's your girlfriend?" Aang simply turned away with a sad look, but quietly said, "Katara and I broke up." Buras' eyes grew large. "What!? You're kidding! You guys were awesome together! Why did you split?" (cont'd)
[2011-11-24 10:54:48] <AangPlushie> Aang got off Appa. "Well, we had a misunderstanding," he explained. "She agreed to adhere to Air Nomad traditions, but I saw her eating meat one night. I got mad at her, an argument enused, and next thing I knew, we were broken up." Buras placed his hand over his mouth. "What?! Come on, you can't be serious! Leaving her over /that/ ? Aang..." he then proceeded to sigh. "Well, how have you been feeling?"
[2011-11-24 11:01:00] <KataraPlushie> "You wonder where who is?" She turned her head and saw her friend, Akiko, walking with a jug of water. Akiko paused for a moment; her eyes widened and then she said, "Oh, wait... never mind. I see." "See what?" Katara asked, her curiosity peaked. Her friend hesitated and then said quickly, "You mean Aang, right?"(cont'd)
[2011-11-24 11:02:36] <KataraPlushie> Wait, how did she know? Katara thought to herself. As if able to read her mind, Akiko said, albeit sheepishly, "Sokka kind of told me what happened." Yep, that was Sokka for you. But instead of growing angry, she simply said, "Oh."
[2011-11-24 11:03:38] <AangPlushie> "I've had mixed feelings," Aang said.
[2011-11-24 11:06:16] <AangPlushie> "On one hand, I've tried to forget her, but, at the same time...I can't stop thinking about her. She was just...always there for me, always close...I can't get over her. I think I still love her." Buras nodded. "Not surprising. Come on...you can get over having a little meat once in a while? You should go back and make up with her, man! Do some compromising! You two are too good for each...
[2011-11-24 11:06:16] <AangPlushie> ...other to be apart. Ask anyone!" Aang looked around. "I don't know if she'll want to see me again."
[2011-11-24 11:09:38] <KataraPlushie> "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude," she said hurriedly. "I just noticed you were acting kind of cold and distant and asked Sokka if something was up and, well, yeah..." "It's okay," Katara told her. Maybe that wasn't exactly right for her brother to do, but she didn't have the heart to grow angry at her friend.
[2011-11-24 11:13:19] <AangPlushie> "Aang, if I know anything, she'll be thrilled to see you," Buras put a hand on Aang's shoulder. "Just go see her!" Aang shook his head. "I don't know..." Buras sighed. "What have you got to lose? Just try it." Aang looked around once more. "I don't know if it's worth it...maybe. It depends on how today goes. I'm going to go see Iroh now." Buras nodded. "Good, he's got good advice, I'm sure....
[2011-11-24 11:13:19] <AangPlushie> ...Just listen...go see her. If it works out, make room for compromise." Aang nodded and walked away. "I'll try it...thanks Buras."
[2011-11-24 11:20:53] <KataraPlushie> "So, how are you holding up?" Akiko asked, still hints of hesitation in her voice, knowing she was probably touching upon a sensitive topic. "To be honest, not that well," Katara replied. "And it doesn't help that I was the one who started it all. Me and my stupid decisions..."
[2011-11-24 11:23:10] <AangPlushie> Aang took a slow flight to the Jasmine Dragon, landing in front of the structure. Some supporters surrounded him, before being told to disperse. Aang walked in with his head down and took a seat at an empty table. Some people looked around, giving odd looks as they didn't see him with Katara. Iroh then walked over to the young Avatar. "Avatar Aang...I was not expecting you. Why the long face?" Aang looked at the legendary general. "Me and Katara broke up."
[2011-11-24 11:26:34] <KataraPlushie> "I'm sure he'll eventually come back and forgive you," Akiko told her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "And I'm not just saying that for the heck of it. You know Aang; he's not to get angry often and he's always to willing to forgive. He'll come back; you just have to wait." Katara looked at her, wondering if what she said could really be true.
[2011-11-24 11:28:47] <AangPlushie> Iroh looked confused. "What happened?" Aang shook his head, finding it hard to recall that awful day, but he knew he needed to talk with Iroh. "Well, I saw her eating meat one day, even though we agreed to follow Air Nomad traditions. So, I got mad, we had an argument...and then we agreed it wasn't going to work out between us. So...we separated. I've been traveling for a little while...I'm not sure how I feel."
[2011-11-24 11:32:18] <KataraPlushie> "You seem so confident about that," Katara said to her. "I know he's the forgiving type, but I'm still in doubt. You know as they say, hope for the best, but prepare for the worst." "I can understand why you would feel that way," Akiko began, "but trust me on this one." She smiled and hugged her before going off.
[2011-11-24 11:34:27] <AangPlushie> Iroh nodded. "I see...you are very close to your people still." Aang looked back at Iroh. "I should still be mad...but, I can't stop thinking about her. All the good times we had. I think I still love her." "You only think, you don't /know/ ?" Iroh asked. Aang thought it over for a second. "Yeah...I do still love her." (cont'd)
[2011-11-24 11:36:11] <AangPlushie> Iroh again nodded. "Well...if you still love her, go back and talk to her. It is your best hope." "Well, I don't know if she'll still like me."
[2011-11-25 10:29:55] <KataraPlushie> Katara saw Sokka later that day. The warrior still seemed a bit cautious to approach her, but greeted her with a "Hi, Katara," to which she replied with "Hey, Sokka." After a silent moment, she said, "So, you told Akiko what happened between me and Aang?" "Oh..." Sokka rubbed his neck sheepishly.
[2011-11-25 10:32:46] <AangPlushie> "You know, you are never going to know if you don't try. If she does like you, then you'll miss that," Iroh said. "What I don't get though, why break up over this?" The elder tea shop owner further asked. "It's just that the Air Nomad traditions are very sacred to me...and I thought Katara could stick with them," Aang answered. "Well, sometimes, in a relationship, you have to learn to compromise," Iroh explained.
[2011-11-25 10:36:41] <KataraPlushie> He held up his hands in defense. "Go ahead; send a water blast at me, if you want," he told her. "I know I shouldn't have, but she was concerned about you." "No, it's cool," she replied. "She actually gave me some hope. You know, that Aang would come back and forgive me. What do you think?"
[2011-11-25 10:40:06] <AangPlushie> "That's what I think I should have done...too late though," Aang shook his head. "It is never too late...as I said, you will not know if you don't try. But, when I say compromise," Iroh responded, "I mean, don't suffocate her. The people of the Water Tribes have a meat-heavy diet. You will have to accept it is impossible to eat vegetables all the time. That doesn't mean you can't keep a vegan diet, but, accept that Katara will have meat every so often. If you truly love her...compromise should be easy."
[2011-11-25 10:43:18] <KataraPlushie> "I think Akiko is right," her brother said without a moment's hesitation. "I know the way Aang is. He can't stay angry for very long, especially not at someone like you. You guys had such a strong connection. He can't stay away for very long." Katara was slightly surprised at her brother's words.
[2011-11-25 10:47:18] <AangPlushie> "Also accept that the Water Tribes need to hunt for their food...their climate is unfavorable for planting and harvesting. I'm sure you will be able to make do with all this, for the sake of love." Aang nodded and said, "I did...I don't know why, I guess Katara was always different. Well, you're right about the people...I'll have to say that if and when I see her." The old general smiled. "Don't hesitate. If she loves you...good luck to you two. If not...you're always welcome again in Ba Sing Se, especially here. Now...how about some tea? Complimentary."
[2011-11-25 10:58:58] <KataraPlushie> "What?" Sokka asked, noting her surprised look. "I can offer reassuring words, too, you know," he said with a slight grin. "But seriously, I think he will return. You just have to wait. Trust my instincts on this one."(cont'd)
[2011-11-25 10:59:53] <KataraPlushie> Katara couldn't help but smile slightly, remembering the last time they had trusted Sokka's instincts. "Heh, whatever you say," she replied, although she hoped what he had said was true.
[2011-11-25 11:02:37] <AangPlushie> Aang enjoyed a small cup of tea with Iroh. "So...just how much do you love Katara?" Iroh asked him. Aang snapped away briefly before giving an answer. "There are no words to explain how much I love Katara. She has always been there for me, always comforting, always the one I could confide in. She's kind of been like my guiding light over this time. I don't think I could have saved the world without her, and not just because she freed me from the iceberg."
[2011-11-25 11:07:01] <KataraPlushie> Realizing what she was referencing to, Sokka stuck his tongue out at her in jest and said, "Well, I'm off. Catch you later." "Alright," she called after him and watched him walk off. She wondered what to do next and began thinking of what she would say should Aang return.
[2011-11-25 11:09:58] <AangPlushie> Iroh nodded. "Ah...young love...yet, it sounds like a love folks like me would share. You two seem like you went well together...I hope you can each get it going again." "Believe me...I do too," Aang replied. "I think I'll go back to the Southern Water Tribe tomorrow, and see her. It will be a couple of days of flying...but, here's hoping." Iroh smiled as he took another sip of tea. "Good for you, young Avatar. And remember...compromise. The best of luck to you." Aang finished his tea, then got up and bowed to the Dragon of the West. "Thank you, General Iroh."
[2011-11-25 11:13:44] <KataraPlushie> She tried figuring out how she would apologize to Aang, but soon found herself at a loss for words. She eventually gave up. I'll know what to say when I see him, she told herself. If I see him, she reminded herself and then sighed. What if Akiko and Sokka were wrong?
[2011-11-25 11:16:35] <AangPlushie> Later that night, Aang made his way to the apartment Team Avatar held in each of their trips to Ba Sing Se. He decided he would stay the night there before beginning the long trek back to the South Pole tomorrow. Alone in there that night, he took more time to reflect on the times he and Katara shared.
[2011-11-25 11:20:28] <KataraPlushie> She doted on this possibility that they were indeed wrong as she walked home. I know Sokka is my brother and he has changed since that other time when we relied on his instincts, but that doesn't clear him of fault. And I don't want to doubt Akiko, but...
[2011-11-25 11:22:13] <AangPlushie> Aang looked into some of his belongings, and pulled out something familiar. (cont'd)
[2011-11-25 11:25:15] <AangPlushie> He pulled out a heart-shaped necklace. On one side appeared to be the image of a koifish, the other side a sky bison. The fish was reaching up out of the water and kissing the bison. On the back was a small inscription that read "We might be separate...but we came together. Love you always." Aang teared up, as Katara had made him this necklace some time ago. "W-W-We did...and we will again...I hope."
[2011-11-25 11:29:49] <KataraPlushie> Like the past few nights, Katara found it hard to fall asleep that night, finding herself hoping and doubting. She rolled over on her side, facing the wall, and soon found herself tracing symbols for air and water along the snow. There was no doubt; she still loved him. She prayed to the spirits for another chance.
[2011-11-25 11:33:06] <AangPlushie> Aang made his way up to his old bedroom and fell on it, ready to start his sleep. Again, he drifted off, with her on his mind. Eight days had gone by since their break-up, and at least two more were coming. He didn't know what to expect when he got back to the South Pole. He did fall asleep briefly and again dreamed about a past memory. This time, it was him, grieving one night over the loss...
[2011-11-25 11:33:06] <AangPlushie> ...of his people. Katara had come out and hugged him, and just gave him comfort in general. He recalled how happy she made him. /Please, Katara...I'm sorry./ He continued to struggle with sleeping otherwise, uncertainty controlling his mind.
[2011-11-25 11:39:06] <KataraPlushie> We had a fight before Sozin's Comet arrived, she recalled. He ran off for a little while, but found his way back here to me. Maybe it'll be the same here. And she smiled a bit at the thought. She would be the happiest person in the world if everything turned out the way she wanted.
[2011-11-25 11:41:28] <AangPlushie> Aang woke up early the next morning, just after sunrise. He packed up his stuff on Appa and got ready to return to the Southern Water Tribe for the first time in over a week. He prayed to the spirits, hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. Slowly, after he finished this, he climbed to the top of Appa and grabbed his reins. Quietly he muttered..."I'm coming, Katara. I love you." More vocally he declared, "Yip yip." Appa took off into the air, starting the journey.
[2011-11-26 10:29:58] <KataraPlushie> Katara happened to meet up with her father the next day; she hadn't spoken to him in quite a few days. "Hello, Katara," he greeted her with a smile. "Hi, Dad," she responded. "Everything alright with you?" he asked as he approached her. "Maybe, I guess," she muttered. "I still have a lot on my mind, though." "I can see why you would," her father said thoughtfully.
[2011-11-26 10:33:09] <AangPlushie> Aang soared over the sky, on course towards the Southern Water Tribe. His heart was beating rapidly as nerves about seeing Katara again overtook him. He was scared that she would reject him, but was prepared for it and would understand. All he hoped was that they would reach compromise and start over. After over a week apart though, he couldn't be sure.
[2011-11-26 10:37:01] <KataraPlushie> "Sokka and Akiko both think Aang is going to come back, but I don't know what to believe..." She sighed and blankly kicked a pile of snow. "I think you should believe them," Hakoda told her. "One hundred percent and that's all I'll say." He looked up at the sky. "Ah, I can't wait for the day when I see that sky bison closing in on the South Pole."
[2011-11-26 10:39:57] <AangPlushie> As the sun set, Aang could feel himself and Appa getting tired. They had now made their way to the southern Earth Kingdom, putting them just a matter of hours away from the South Pole. However, it was clear they needed a rest; they had been flying non-stop for over twelve hours. Aang decided he was not up for the publicity of going to a village and decided to set up a small camp in a nearby forest.
[2011-11-26 10:43:14] <KataraPlushie> Katara sat on the outskirts of the village as she had for the past few days, gazing up at the fiery sunset. She thought of her father's words; she herself couldn't wait to see Appa flying towards the village. Although there was still some lingering doubt, she decided that if Sokka, Akiko and her father believed it was true then it was true.
[2011-11-26 10:46:18] <AangPlushie> Aang looked at the night sky after finishing up his long day with some dinner. He put out the camp fire and prepared for the most important day in a long time coming tomorrow. /All I have to do is awaken and fly.../ Either a best case or worst case was going to happen. He thought about each scenario before drifting off to sleep.
[2011-11-26 10:51:58] <KataraPlushie> She spent another restless night, this time not only from being consumed by guilt and sorrow, but because she didn't know what to expect now these days. How would things work out if Aang returned? Would they get back together or maybe just decide to keep going their separate ways and remain friends? Or would they see each other and just grow angry again?
[2011-11-26 10:55:09] <AangPlushie> Aang woke up, butterflies in his stomach. This was it. He knew it was now or never. He ate a quick breakfast and boarded Appa. Today, he was going to find out if he could get back together with Katara. Again, he was hoping for the best but was prepared for the worst. He thought about the words both Buras and Iroh gave him, but at the same time, remembered how harsh his argument with Katara...
[2011-11-26 10:55:09] <AangPlushie> ...was, and wondered if there was coming back. As Iroh told him though, he would not know if he didn't try. "Yip yip," he said to his sky bison, and took to the sky.
[2011-11-26 10:58:20] <KataraPlushie> Katara paused, thinking about this last possible scenario. What /if/ all the old emotions came back if they saw each other? Then what would happen? He'd go off again, that's what, she thought solemnly. She crossed her fingers, hoping that this wouldn't be the case. Then she waited.
[2011-11-26 11:01:13] <AangPlushie> As midday hit, Aang could feel the cooling atmosphere as he made his way to the arctic climate of the South Pole. He was now clear of the Earth Kingdom, and was preparing to adjust his course to get on path with the main village of the Southern Tribe. He was getting closer, his heartbeat was getting faster, and his thoughts were moving faster than Appa. He couldn't calm down as he was so scared, thinking Katara would consider him too harsh or non-understanding, and would turn him away. All he could do was hope.
[2011-11-26 11:05:56] <KataraPlushie> Katara sat right outside her door on a short column of snow she had conjured from the ground. She passed the time by forming impressions in the ground with Waterbending. "Waiting for you-know-who?" She looked up and saw Sokka standing a few feet away with a fishing pole.(cont'd)
[2011-11-26 11:07:21] <KataraPlushie> He grinned and she replied, "Yes. You never know when he could come." "So, you're positive he'll come then? Finally got you to believe that?" he asked. "That's what I hope," she told him. "And it was you, Akiko /and/ Dad who got me to believe that, not just you," she added mockingly.
[2011-11-26 11:09:13] <AangPlushie> Aang started to see chunks of ice appearing in the water. He was now really close to the South Pole, starting to get some glimpses of the village. He got nervous, and turned towards the left. He decided he would loop around a little bit and take time to gather himself before reaching the village...and /her/.
[2011-11-26 11:12:01] <KataraPlushie> "But it was mostly me, right?" he asked smugly. After a pause, he said, "Well, when you do see him, good luck and I'll be hoping for the best. I'll see you around." "Later, Sokka," the young Waterbender told him. "And thanks."
[2011-11-26 11:14:11] <AangPlushie> Aang kept his loop going for a couple of cycles before finally deciding he was ready. He started to turn straight ahead towards the village, taking several deep breaths along the way. /Come on Aang....you can do this./ He kept his speed slow but kept the direction. "I love you, Katara," he whispered.
[2011-11-26 11:20:21] <KataraPlushie> She quit Waterbending after a while and simply leaned against the wall of her igloo, staring up at the crystal clear sky. She had a feeling that who she awaited for would come today. I'm waiting and I'm ready..., she thought, although she wasn't quite so sure about that last part.
[2011-11-26 11:22:43] <AangPlushie> Aang continued to coast towards the village, though he wasn't sure where he would land, if he would go straight to her, or take more time and wait. He was a mess of emotion and nerves at that moment, not entirely sure of the words to use to her. His approach continued as the village came clearer into sight, and he started to direct Appa to descend.
[2011-11-26 11:25:47] <KataraPlushie> She scanned the skies endlessly, growing more and more anxious by the moment. Just then, her eyes caught sight of something in the very distance. It was hard to tell exactly what it was, but she was filled with hope and anticipation, knowing it could very well be who she had been waiting for...
[2011-11-26 11:27:56] <AangPlushie> Aang continued to lower Appa, electing to land just outside the village. After the descent was over, he dismounted his animal guide. "Wait here, buddy, I'll be back one way or the other," he whispered to him, and started the walk across the snowy ground to the village where his journey had begun.
[2011-11-26 11:30:13] <KataraPlushie> She had seen the faraway object descend and disappear from view. She slowly rose from her seat, wondering if it could have truly been Appa. She took a few tentative steps forward and began making her away cautiously through the village.
[2011-11-26 11:31:27] <AangPlushie> Aang wandered into the village, sort of looking around with worry and fear. "Is she around? Will she want to see me?" He continued to wander, now sort of aimlessly, as his thoughts continued.
[2011-11-26 11:35:22] <KataraPlushie> She had no idea where she was heading exactly, simply putting one foot in front of the other. Emotions and questions swirled around inside her like a tornado. She looked up and down the streets and then before her. And that's when she saw /him/ in the distance.
[2011-11-26 11:37:21] <AangPlushie> Aang caught the sight of a girl, and thought it was her; she had the same long hair Katara had. He ran over to her and tapped her on the shoulder, shaking in the process. However, this girl turned around and her face was not that of his love. Disappointed, he turned around and continued his walk, his confused thoughts continuing. He looked out in the distance and saw another girl, that...
[2011-11-26 11:37:21] <AangPlushie> ...looked more like /her/. He took a deep breath and slowly started to step forward.
[2011-11-26 11:39:51] <KataraPlushie> She shook slightly as she walked forward. She didn't run up to him, simply approaching him with a mix of happiness, anxiousness and uncertainty. So he had come back... She still didn't know what was going to happen, but she knew she would soon.
[2011-11-26 11:41:45] <AangPlushie> Aang's slow approach to this figure continued. As the two moved closer, he could now clearly see it was indeed who he was looking for. His deep breaths continued, wondering how she would react, wondering what his exact words would be.
[2011-11-26 11:43:58] <KataraPlushie> After several moments, the two stood only a few feet away from each other, still keeping silent. Katara stopped walking, still so unsure of what would happen. She had her head bent low and felt her eyes water, realizing she was standing in front of the one whom she had hoped she'd stand before for days now.
[2011-11-26 11:46:34] <AangPlushie> Aang was now at a point where he could feel Katara's breath. He picked her head up with his hand lifting up her chin. His look had changed from one of nervousness to one of great regret and sadness. "Katara..." he murmured.
[2011-11-26 11:48:46] <KataraPlushie> All reservations about standing before him were washed away and she could control herself no longer. She opened her mouth to speak, but said nothing instead going forward and throwing her arms around him, not caring whether he pushed her off.
[2011-11-26 11:51:11] <AangPlushie> Aang was clearly caught off-guard by her embrace. Nevertheless, he put his arms around her, feeling some sense of relief. He had a feeling, right then and there that she still loved him. He closed his eyes to take in her hug, some tears appearing within.
[2011-11-26 11:55:04] <KataraPlushie> She felt him embrace her after a moment and let out a sigh, a few tears running down her cheeks. Although she didn't want to get too ahead of herself, she knew that he had indeed forgiven her. They stood there for a few moments before she stepped back and looked at him, still at a loss for words.
[2011-11-26 11:56:13] <AangPlushie> Aang put his arms back to his side after Katara stepped out of the hug. He finally gathered up his first words. "Katara...I'm sorry," he got out.
[2011-11-26 12:09:10] <KataraPlushie> Katara simply shook her head and told him, "No, /I'm/ sorry. I feel so guilty for what I did and you honestly don't have to apologize for anything. It was my stupid decision..."
[2011-11-26 12:10:31] <AangPlushie> Aang shook his head. "Katara...it wasn't your fault. I forced my traditions on you...I should have realized that the Water Tribes are just not a vegan people, and I should have accepted that. I didn't, and I let it drive us apart. It's my fault."
[2011-11-26 12:13:23] <KataraPlushie> "No, please, don't apologize for anything," Katara told him. "I wanted to follow the Air Nomad traditions and I was wrong for going against them. I should've just confronted you rather than simply making the switch..."
[2011-11-26 12:15:38] <AangPlushie> Aang quickly pressed a finger to her lips. "Katara...really, don't blame yourself. I just should have realized you couldn't hang on forever. I took you out of your comfort zone and forced you to do something. I don't want to force anything on you. If you want to...you can eat meat all you please. I have to accept that."
[2011-11-26 12:17:31] <KataraPlushie> "Well, I do blame myself," she told him. "And really, I won't eat meat out of respect for you. I know how much the Air Nomad traditions mean to you and if you can adhere to them then so can I." She gave him a weak smile.
[2011-11-26 12:18:54] <AangPlushie> "Katara...you don't have to," he assured her. "If you want to eat meat, really...go ahead." His smile was assuring. "I just got mad at you because you had promised...but I see that it's just not you. I won't ever let that happen again."
[2011-11-26 12:22:03] <KataraPlushie> She bit her lip then said, "Well, if you really feel it's okay," to which he nodded, "then alright. But still, you don't know how sorry I am for doing what I did and I don't know how I can make it up to you."
[2011-11-26 12:24:06] <AangPlushie> "Katara..." he whispered. "It's all right. I'm really sorry for yelling at you...I just got so self-absorbed, and thinking of being the last Air Nomad...I didn't keep your thoughts in mind. I was selfish...and I don't know how /I/ will make it up to /you/."
[2011-11-26 12:27:01] <KataraPlushie> "No, no, you don't have to make it up to me at all," she reassured him. "I wish you'd stop blaming yourself for what I caused." After a slight pause, she asked, "So, what now?"
[2011-11-26 12:29:54] <AangPlushie> "If I don't have to make it up...you don't either," he said. "What now? I think it's time to start over."
[09:11:11] KataraPlushie Katara couldn't help but grin. "So... you want to get back together? After all that?" she asked, wanting to make sure they were on the same page.
[09:13:05] AangPlushie Aang smiled brightly, still surprised that Katara was so quick to forgive. Nevertheless, there was just a few words he needed to say. "Yes, Katara. Absolutely."
[09:16:37] KataraPlushie She only grinned wider and looked at him, seeing a twinkle in his eyes. She couldn't have asked for this to run any more smoothly. The ice had thawed between them and they were getting back together. She hugged him happily.
[09:18:12] AangPlushie The Avatar hugged she who was once again his girlfriend. Never had he felt a love so strong than the one he felt for her, and he knew they would never be apart forever. He was so excited and happy that she had forgiven him, and his eyes watered up slightly as he held her.
[09:20:21] KataraPlushie "You don't know how happy I am that you're giving me another chance," she said, still embracing him. "Let's up there are no more miscommunications between us. Life's too short for those kinds of things."
[09:22:53] AangPlushie Aang nodded. "I feel the same way...I missed you so much. This past week has been miserable. We'll always make sure we're on the same level...because I always want to be with you."
[09:26:03] KataraPlushie "This week has been a mess for me as well," she told him. "But let's put that behind us now. It's history and it'll never happen again. I love you, Aang," she said, feeling exalted to be able to tell him that once more.
[09:27:53] AangPlushie Aang's smile grew at her last words. "Katara...I love you too," he said, on the verge of tears of joy, tightening the embrace.
[09:31:11] KataraPlushie Katara felt Aang hug her even tighter and thought herself to be the happiest person in the world at that moment. She shed a few tears, thanking the spirits for making everything alright in the end.
[09:32:38] AangPlushie Aang wiped the tears that fell from Katara's eyes with his thumb while continuing to hug her. He remained silent otherwise, electing not to spoil their moment.
[09:35:30] KataraPlushie For several moments, they simply stood there, rocking back and forth gently as they held fast to their hug. At last, Katara withdrew and simply stared at Aang, unable to stop grinning.
[09:36:55] AangPlushie Aang was incredibly happy, looking at her with a great grin. He felt tears come down his face, wiping them away. "As you said...it's history now, Katara. It feels great to be back."
[09:41:21] KataraPlushie "Well, it's great to have you back. Beyond great really," Katara told him. "Honestly, I was worried about how this would turn out... But that's behind me, too. Because look, we're together now."
[09:43:03] AangPlushie "I was worried too," Aang said back to her. "I thought you have considered me too overbearing or unaccepting...but I am glad to be wrong. But we forgive and forget. Let our anger out...then let it go. And I could never stay angry at you."
[09:45:17] KataraPlushie Katara laughed slightly, saying, "Heh, yeah, that's what my dad, Sokka and my friend all said. And they were right. I shouldn't have doubted them, not even Sokka."
[09:47:43] AangPlushie "I had gone to Ba Sing Se, and one of my friends said you would forgive me too," he explained. "I didn't know if I could believe him then...but, he was right."
[09:49:04] KataraPlushie Katara nodded. "So that's where you went...," she said thoughtfully. "Did you see General Iroh at all?"
[09:51:19] AangPlushie "Actually," the Avatar nodded, "Yes, I did. And...to be honest, I was so nervous to come back here, that I thought about not coming at all. However, it was Iroh who helped convince me to come here, and to urge me about compromise." Aang rubbed the back of his neck. "It's kind of....well, sad that I had to get the idea of compromise from him, instead of coming up with it myself."
[09:53:31] KataraPlushie "It's not sad," she reassured him. "What would've been sad is getting that advice from him and not acting on it. Iroh offers some great wisdom. I'm glad you listened to him."
[09:54:37] AangPlushie "I am too," Aang replied. "If I didn't, I may not be here at the South Pole, standing in front of you once again...and would likely still just be traveling or something."
[09:59:06] KataraPlushie Katara simply nodded then placed a hand on his cheek. "Well, let's not dwell on the what-ifs. You're here now and we get to start fresh and that's all that matters right now."
[09:59:42] AangPlushie "That's right," he nodded. "And I wouldn't want it any other way."
[10:01:52] KataraPlushie "Well, let's head home, shall we?" She took a hold of his hand and the two began making their way through the streets of the village. A few villagers passing by greeted them with smiles and for the first time in many days, Katara was able to smile and greet them back.
[10:04:46] AangPlushie People looked at the couple, with some words of, "Hey look, they're back together." Aang didn't care, just holding her hand and walking back to their home. "Katara...I have something important to tell you when we get back," Aang said.
[10:08:01] KataraPlushie Katara raised an eyebrow in curiosity, wondering what that important thing could be. "Okay," she replied.
[10:10:34] AangPlushie The two walked inside Katara's house, with no one else to be found within. The re-united couple made their way to a couch. Aang took Katara's hands and looked her straight in her sapphire blue eyes. "Katara...being away from you the last ten days has made me realize something."
[10:11:52] KataraPlushie Katara tilted her head off to the side, gazing at Aang questioningly. "What is it, Aang?" she asked.
[10:12:53] AangPlushie "Well, without you...it has made me truly appreciate what life is like with you," he replied. "How much you mean to me....
[10:16:14] KataraPlushie Katara smiled warmly and felt herself growing a little teary-eyed, hearing him say this about her. "Well, spending these days lonely and then having you return, I've realized that, too. I guess it's true when they say you don't know what you have until it's gone."
[10:18:37] AangPlushie "That is the truth," Aang said. "When you are here...I know I always feel comfortable around you. You were the first one I could safely tell my secrets, and when something hurt, you'd always be there for me. I thought of the one night I was in tears, because I was thinking about my people...and you came out first and hugged me. All of our adventures...you were always on my side...so understanding. Ready to be there. You guided me through everything...I just...never know what I could do without you."
[10:21:20] KataraPlushie Katara blushed at this. "You've basically summed up the way I feel about you. I just feel so free being with you. You bring out my true colors and I know I'll never take you for granted ever again."
[10:25:37] AangPlushie Aang blushed as well. "Likewise, I know, that it could end any day...like it almost did. Every day with you is like a blessing from the spirits...I don't know what good I did to deserve a girl like you...whatever it was, it was pretty good."
[10:28:00] KataraPlushie Katara chuckled. "How many times must I tell you?" she said, amused. "You didn't do anything to deserve me. /I/ should be asking that question. And yes, every day is a blessing."
[10:29:00] AangPlushie Aang poked his girlfriend. "Katara...you didn't do anything to deserve /me/. You never had to."
[10:30:40] KataraPlushie She pushed his arm lightly. "Oh come on. I had to have done something, right? Anything."
[10:32:09] AangPlushie "Well," Aang started. "The fact that you survived a raid by the Fire Nation, made it through your mother's death, mastered Waterbending against all odds, saved me from the iceberg, saved my life after Azula shot me with lightning...we could go all day if you wanted to," he laughed.
[10:33:59] KataraPlushie She laughed and said, "Well, why are you questioning what you did to deserve me when you saved..." She pretended to think then continued. "Oh yeah, the /entire world/ from destruction."
[10:35:55] AangPlushie "I may have done that to deserve the world's love," Aang said. "But...not your love."
[10:37:33] KataraPlushie She simply beamed and told him, "Well, you didn't really have to do anything big to deserve my love. Just being you was all it took."
[10:39:20] AangPlushie Aang happily nodded. "Thank you, Katara." He looked deep into her eyes, thinking if his next move would be appropriate or not, given the situation they were just in.
[10:41:11] KataraPlushie Katara saw a thoughtful look in his eyes. She could tell that he was mulling over something from the way he gazed at her and had a feeling of what it was. She moved closer to him and slowly leaned forward, letting him know it is was perfectly fine.
[10:42:19] AangPlushie Aang closed his eyes and leaned forward slowly, preparing for their first kiss of their resumed relationship. He made his lips up into a pucker, awaiting the feeling of her lips on his.
[10:44:11] KataraPlushie Her lips brushed against his and the two were soon in the midst of a kiss that marked the beginning, the start-over. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders as they became awash in time.
[10:45:31] AangPlushie Aang placed his arms around her, engaging in the kiss she was giving him. His eyes remained close, taking it all in, and feeling the joy of their reunion. He found it hard to let go, allowing the feelings to settle in as he continued to kiss her.
[10:47:34] KataraPlushie This day couldn't have worked out any better, she thought, still wrapped up in the kiss. It was simply... perfect. She guessed she must've been the luckiest person in the whole wide world.
[10:49:57] AangPlushie Aang knew he was in the midst of one of the best days of his life, ever since the day he ended the War, and the day they first kissed in Ba Sing Se. His thoughts were a rush. /Katara...I love you, don't ever let me go.../ He continued to kiss her, letting the rest of the world float away, leaving it, in his mind, to just Katara and himself.
[10:52:45] KataraPlushie After quite some time, Katara pulled away gently, a smile spreading across her face. She continued to stare into Aang's eyes and brushed his cheek lightly with her hand. "To a new beginning," she said softly.
[10:54:18] AangPlushie Aang, who still had his arms around Katara, lightly stroked her hair with his hand. "A new beginning," he said softly before pulling her back into an embrace.
[10:56:38] KataraPlushie She more than happily returned the hug. The two didn't speak, simply enjoying the fact that they were together again and it would stay that way.
[10:57:59] AangPlushie Aang continued to move his hand through her long hair, ever so softly. He missed the feeling of her, close to him, in his arms, her hair draped over his shoulder.
[11:00:40] KataraPlushie Katara rested her head on his shoulder, feeling him run his fingers through her hair as he often did before. She had missed that feeling and the feeling of embracing him as a whole those ten days.
[11:01:41] AangPlushie After a couple more minutes of this close embrace, Aang broke the silence. "How about a celebration of our reunion?" He whispered in her ear. "You know...a date night?"
[11:02:38] KataraPlushie "Sounds perfect," she whispered back.
[11:03:34] AangPlushie "I think the same way," he replied. "When do you want to do so?"
[11:04:52] KataraPlushie "I'd be willing to do so tonight, although it's getting a little late," she said. "Whenever is good for you."
[11:05:56] AangPlushie "Maybe we should wait for tomorrow," he replied. "Today has been a long day...I need some rest, and of course we just got back together. Regardless...I will look forward to it."
[11:07:00] KataraPlushie "It has been a long day," she agreed. "Okay, tomorrow then. And I'm looking forward to it, too."
[11:08:46] AangPlushie He nodded. "Tomorrow it is." He then got up from the couch, feeling the exhaustion of many hours of travel. The sun had not yet gone down, but he could feel he needed at least a nap.
[11:10:18] KataraPlushie "I can see you're pretty worn out," Katara said as she rose from her seat. "Go home and get some rest."
[11:10:59] AangPlushie "That's what I will do," he said. Though he was a bit disappointed to be separating from her, he knew, this time, it was just for a matter of hours, and not days.
[11:12:21] KataraPlushie "Well, I'll see you later today. And if not, then I shall see you tomorrow," she told him, walking up to him and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
[11:13:29] AangPlushie Aang blushed slightly at her cheek kiss. "Yes...you will." With that, he offered her yet another hug.
